Product information
Product Overview
The EK1110 EtherCAT Extension is placed at the end of an EtherCAT Terminal segment, or at the end of a CX-series Embedded PC, and converts the internal E-bus signals back to 100BASE-TX Ethernet. It is how a line topology is continued rather than returned to the controller.
It is a companion part to the EK1100 coupler, not a substitute for it. One RJ45 port, no configuration, powered from the E-bus.
Why Buyers Specify This Model
It exists to close a loop, not to start one
An EtherCAT station begins with a coupler (EK1100) and ends with either nothing or an extension. The EK1110 puts an RJ45 port at that end, so the cable run can continue to the next machine section instead of being pulled all the way back to the controller.
That saves cable, saves a switch, and — because EtherCAT is a pass-through protocol — costs about 1 µs of propagation delay. Configuration is not required: there is nothing to set.
Powered from the E-bus, nothing to wire
The EK1110 draws its supply from the E-bus, typically 130 mA. There is no separate 24 V connection and no address to set. It adds one RJ45 port at 100 Mbit/s, with up to 100 m to the next station over shielded Cat.5 or better cable.
Because the E-bus current budget of the coupler has to cover it, remember to count the EK1110’s 130 mA when adding up a station — it is easy to forget a module that has no field wiring.
A narrow housing that fits the terminal row
The housing is the same 44 mm × 100 mm × 68 mm profile as the EK1100, mounted on 35 mm DIN rail to EN 60715. It carries signal LEDs and can be labelled with the BZxxxx marking series. Weight is approximately 50 g.
Operating temperature is -25 … +60 °C, protection rating IP20, and it carries the same approval set as the rest of the EK range: CE, CCC, UL, ATEX, IECEx, DNV and cFMus.

Ordering This Part
Tell us the model and, where an order code exists, the complete code — Beckhoff variants differ in ways that matter, as set out above. For discontinued models, a nameplate photograph is the fastest way to confirm exactly what you have.
- Exact model or order code (including any suffix such as
-0111or-ESvariants) - Quantity required
- Whether you need the terminal alone or a complete station with coupler and power supply
- For replacements: a photo of the existing nameplate or the old order code
We confirm availability and condition before quoting. We do not publish stock levels or lead times on this page because they change; ask and we will answer specifically for your requirement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the EK1110 replace an EK1100 coupler?
No. The EK1110 has one RJ45 port and no coupler function — it extends the E-bus out to Ethernet at the end of a segment. A station still needs an EK1100 (or another coupler) at the start.
How many EK1110 modules can a station have?
Typically one, at the end of the segment. Its purpose is to continue the line. If you need to branch, that is a different function — describe the topology and we will point you at the right module.
Does it need its own power supply?
No. It is powered from the E-bus at typically 130 mA. Remember to include that figure in the E-bus current budget of the coupler feeding the station.
Does it need configuration in TwinCAT?
Beckhoff states that configuration is not required. It appears as a module in the EtherCAT topology and passes the telegram through.
What is the maximum distance to the next station?
100 m over shielded Ethernet/EtherCAT cable of Cat.5 or better, at 100 Mbit/s. Propagation delay is approximately 1 µs.
